I've been using 802.11b 11Mbps wirless networking in my home for well over a year now - it works well! I use a Linksys access point that is widely available for $200 and I have 2 Lucent Orinoco Silver wireless cards which can also be got for well under $100 each. I'm thinking about creating a PIC project that connects to the 802.11b wirless access point using a PCMCIA card. My thought is that I'd design and build the interface circuit between the PIC and a PCMCIA card connector and then just plug the wirless card in. I searched extensively but can't find any data that would explain how to 'talk' to the PCMCIA slot and specifically for the wirless card although there must be a fairly standard address/data bus plus protocol lines with simple calls for reset etc. Has anyone done this before? Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting my hands on the data I need? Any suggestions or gotchas welcome!
