I need to field program some PIC 16F877's via low voltage programming
in/out portc.6 and portc.7.

I can do this no trouble with my desktop WIN32 and the MeLabs Bootloader
which works a treat on WIN32 but MeLabs does not support WIN3.1.

The only laptop I have available for this task is an old HP OmniBook 300
that has WIN 3.1 in ROM.

Does anyone have some direct experience with bootloaders and older windows
versions?
