That's not always true - the nVidia nForce, and the upcoming ATI Radeon IGP, put their video (maybe other stuff, too) on a slightly faster bus - HyperTransport, I think, on nForce. Both of these chips contain full 2D / 3D chipsets, on par with a GeForce 2 / Radeon LE (respectively) in terms of technology.
