What has been said is true...but remember that there might be more on that
circuit breaker than just that room.  Electricans usually wire up several
rooms to one breaker because its cheaper.  SO you might have other loads on
the same run.

Have you measured the current that the iron is pulling, or tried it in
another outlet or another room (diff breaker).  The only time I had problems
in my old house was when the dryer started.
