The primary benefit to paying support is to keep downloading the new versions of the compiler. Keep in mind that HiTech prefers to be 'processor aware' and when new parts come out, you need to be able to select that processor. Many might say that the benefit is to download patches to eliminate bugs, but the compiler itself is very sloid and I am very impressed by the lack of bugs. You get what you pay for, and some compilers (IAR) are more expensive for comparable quality. I urge many to stay away from CCS unless you have a high threshold for frustration.
