PICPWMOUTPUT------*------LCDVEEINPUT | |+ 1uF (electr cap) | GND The cap value depends on the frequency of your PWM output. I don't think you need a resistor, maybe this is messing your circuit. Try to see with an scope if your cap is filtering all the ripple, as this could cause some strange "moving lines" on the LCD. As you're doing this, also see if the PIC PWM output is making a good voltage swing.
