You cannot just use a serial cable to connect to the p16pro as it may not have all the wiring needed. > The error message is in a dialogue box called 'Verify' and says: > > | Program error: > | > | Program: address=0000 buffer=2810 device=3FFF > > Any thoughts as to what might be causing this? It is not writing the data into the chip. Try doing a chip erase and then try again. What happens when you click on Settings/HardwareSetup-Test. Does it pass all the tests? Is it identifying your board correctly? What are you using for a power adapter? What happens when you click on Help/About Hardware? > Also, what values should I set Start Prog, End Prog, SN/ID, and Fuse/Prot > to? Fuse/Prot bits should be defined inside your source code. The picallw software will get the information from the hex file. SN/ID is for your own usage to assign sequence/serial numbers. The Start/End Prog fields are filled in automatically based on the particular chip. You do have the P16PRO selected as the programmer type, right? You do have Microchip and the "Exact" chip specified in the drop down boxes at the top of the screen? > Any help greatly appreciated, If it passes all the hardware tests, check with a volt meter to be sure that the Vpp is in the right range, and is being applied to the chip. Check all solder connections again and again, make sure all diodes are in the way. These things do work, and they should work fine. I have the picall programmer and it works perfectly. The picallw software works with more than one type of programmer, so you have to be sure you have the correct one selected. Again, does it pass all the communication/hardware tests??? > -Rob -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
