You need the dragon book. I believe it's actually called "Compilers: Principles Techniques and Tools" by Aho, Sethi, Ulman. I'm fairly sure of the names though (it's been a while). Most people refer to it as the dragon book cause there's a big dragon on the cover. Awesome book for understanding compiler theory.
