I immigrated to Canada from Denmark. They are metric, right ?

I buy a house by the square footage, no clue what the size is. I order PCBs in inches
and design them in mils. Had to buy a new gauge and rulers to measure things.
All my hex keys don't fit. I can't repair my old Pontiac. Tons of tools wasted.
I sent my screw assortment - metric - over here. Had to buy new.
When I order cable or hose or wood or copper tubing it is by the foot. I have no clue
in my mind how much I need and have lots of extras already after 5 months here.
My little son is 13 pounds and 22 9/16 inches according to the nurses.
And then everything wooden is held together with these square hole head screws.
Size 1,2,3,4,5 - I have to bring the whole (new) set of bits with me.

Should feet be smarter than meters ? I have a calibrated one meter step, that I
measure things with. Now I have to use baby steps. And when I measure cable I
have to take my shoes off in the store to figure out the price as accurate as I can in
meters stretching the cable across my chest.

Then if you ask how far it is to Squamish you get "about 45 minutes, eh" and the
directions are "take a left right here,eh".

I once had a good eye measure. Now it is warped. My mind is tired.
