Hi all, I've just started playing with the 16F628 and i've got a problem with unreliable start-up. Up until yesterday, i've been using a 16F84, and found that it ran reliably and started up reliably with virtually any crystal and capacitor selection. My problem is that I have tried to run a 16F628 at 32 kHz and 3.3 Volts (power consumption critical) and have found that I have to use capacitor values of close to 100pF. Before I get shouted at, I know this is what it says in the data sheet, but my points are, 1) I never had to with the 16F84's, and 2) The start-up time is unacceptable with these capacitors. I am seeing a noticeable delay before the program starts to run. Has anyone else noticed this? Have I just been lucky and got good 16F84's in the past? Is there a solution to my problem?
