It's all relative to the way you look at it and to the make/mfg of the connector. Some connector pins go straightdown to the board when entering the socket and some go across the top and down like the Microchip connectors. A suitable connector is the A9034-ND from DigiKey for $0.74. The modular cable that comes with the ICD is a "flipped" configuration so the colors aren't the same pin numbers if you plug one or the other end in.
