> pid control, 100 steps The minimum PID control has only two steps... The PID control is unrelated to the number of steps. Having few steps can simplify the PID calculations very much. However you need to make sure that the output control (servo driven thing) can deal with stepwise control without doing something that you do not expect. For example if you turn a vane in a fluid stream in steps you can cause the vane to stall before the actual stall angle happens and whatever is downstream from it (a sensor ?) will be influenced.
