I did the same thing that Attila did but I used a lemon instead and got some power. Didn't run any thing with it yet. Andre Abelian =20 -----Original Message----- =20 Hi, many many years ago, I used two potatoes to power a small watch. I sliced off the top of the potatoes (don't boil or fry :-)) and inserted a copper plate and a zinc plate (size about 2 sq cm each inside the potato). As far as I can remember I got about 1.6V when they were connected in series. The watch kept running about three weeks until I accidently dropped it into the floor. But that time about 5 % of the zinc was gone, so there was quite much capacity left. This was really something which attracted people, made them interested, asking quiestions... Maybe it has a commercial potential ? :-) Regards Attila Muhi - SM4RAN -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Fr=E5n: Tony Brewer Till: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Datum: den 28 februari 2002 00:17 =C4mne: [PIC]: Potato Powered PIC? >Is is possible to power the 12C508A using potatoes? >Or would some other vegetable or fruit work better? >Don't laugh, these are serious questions! :o) > >Tony B. > >-- >http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics >(like ads or off topics) for you.
