Nope, can't really be done since you want stability and reliability. ICS will work, but it is not the most dependable thing in the world. Why not use Linux? Before I got a cable connection, I used Linux, pppd, diald (to connect on demand) and ipchains to do the NAT functions. It worked perfectly, once I got it set up right. ;-) Months would go by with no problems.
