RE: VFD's -----Original Message----- From: Chris Loiacono [mailto:chris@mail2asi.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2002 10:58 AM To: 'Kosmerchock, Steve' Subject: [OT] VFD's for projection/heads-up display Perhaps this is the right time to mention the reason for my interest. I have been, for some time pondering on a way to make a cost effective HUD that is both miniature and compact. There are a couple of patents out for reflective methods that festoon a projected image over a series of mirrors to create a reasonable focal length for the wearer while using a very small amount of space. It seemed that a VFD would provide a nice strong lighted image for this. The device needs to be battery powered, so the 130 mA is killer. Hence, instead of perhaps trying to re-invent the wheel, has anyone done or seen anything like what I am describing? I might consider teaming up with someone to develop this into a useful product... The power is +5VDC @ 130mA. Attatched is a picture of the display. Here is a link to their page: http://www.noritake-elec.com/uversion.htm The model # is CU20025ECPB-U1J Steve -----Original Message----- From: Chris Loiacono [mailto:chris@mail2asi.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2002 11:13 AM To: 'Kosmerchock, Steve' Subject: VFD's Steve: I might be interested in some VFD's from your list of surplus parts. Forgive my ignorance, but I have no experience with VFD's. My big question is: what is the power requirement for these displays?
