Peter, Northern Tool at http://www.NorthernTool.com sells a small shear/bending brake combination. It can cut up to 7 7/8". It is priced at $169.99 USD they have others at times in the 12" and 30" sizes as well. I use a 12" model, it has cut many boards, it is the fastest, least messy method that I know of, the blades can be re sharpends, but I haven't had to have mine sharpened yet...
