Once again I apologize for my off-topic post but since this is a follow-up
to a previous post, I think it's not  inappropriate.

Awhile back, I asked the list about people's experience with prepaid cell
phones. Since then, I bought one from a company called Tracfone (thanks to
the recommendation of KC5PPI, a piclist member) and I've been very happy
with it, except for a minor issue of not being able to get the voice mail
feature to work yet (but I'm still in the process of working with their
tech support on this).

However, I wanted to also buy one for my mom and now I can't find them at
local retailers either in Ithaca, NY or in Scranton, PA, despite the fact
that I bought mine in Ithaca just about a month ago. When I asked in
Staples here, they said that they are "phasing them out", but it was
unclear whether it was just Staples that was phasing them out or if
Tracfone was going out of business.

In fact, Tracfone seems to be expanding their web site and doing fairly
well. Does anyone know if the company is doing OK? It would be nice to know
before I buy another of their phones :-)
