It seems this message got delivered to the wrong recipient...sorry about that! Hi All Has anybody used a PIC to communicate with the Philpis PCF8563 RTC? I am currently using the DS1307, but the PCF8563 is a lot cheaper, and I want to migrate, but have trouble doing so. On page 15 of the datasheet, bit 1 of the slave address has an 'A' and a '0' - what is the 'A'? The Control1 and Control2 registers are both set to 0x00, and I've changed the addresses of the timekeeping registers. No alarms are implemented. Pin3 (INT) and Pin7 (CLKOUT) are floating, as they are outputs which I do not use. A 22pF cap is connected from OSC1 to GND. My read and write procedures seem to work when checked on my 'scope, and the RTC sends an ACK. When I read thogh, I get 0x0F's in all the registers.
