Stuart, I put runs under 0805 components all the time. I typically use .008" spacing and .008" trace width. I have never had a problem with this, however, be careful about passing clocks and power under components. For that matter any trace that may be sensitive to noise, you will not want to pass under a component. Not knowing how much EMI/RFI that certain components my radiate can leave you in a bad way. Just use the same rules as in basic layout techniques, and keep the distance on critical traces to max.
