It is the ONLY memory (except the reference memory). It is continually
read and the values of the bits are displayed by the DAC in the
oscilloscope output (to put it simple...).

Your problem would be triggering the bitstream, you can only choose a
sample rate so that 5 to 20 points in the display represent the same bit
of your stream, and then count along the memory contents.

To see a long bitstream on a PC, I would use the serial port and a
DOS-based machine - assuming your data rate and levels are OK for doing
this.
