Usually "UM" parts were made by UMC of Taiwan, the government-funded
IC manufacturer that, like a gooey pod in a horror movie, split into
5 sub-companies some years ago. I don't think they (UMC) actually
offer products anymore, they are more of a foundry, but one of their
spin-offs may have continued the line.

They even made a snazzy little knock-off of the 8051 (mask-ROM) cpu
many years ago (completely unauthorized, so not for sale in certain
countries).
