Ubicom did not purchase Scenix. Scenix just changed it's name. They are concentrating on the new IP2K chip but still make and support the SX chips. SX chips are alive and well! Admin 3 Subject: Re:[EE]:Programming Scenix chips Importance: Low James, Thanks for the reminder. I had read of their intent earlier, but never heard whether anything had been done or not. Perhaps I'll have to go check it out again. It just sort of seems that Parallax did the SX Key primary to support development of their BasicStamps, and have sort of dropped ongoing development of the tool(s). While I really liked the SX-Key Rev E., they took away one of the features I liked the best with Rev. F ... the long thin connector cable. It wasn't long after that they sold off the Parallax PIC programmer, then Ubicom bought Scenix. It also seems that Ubicom isn't doing much to enhance the SX product line ... I'd like to see them offer more products similar to the PIC line. Sheesh, it's almost impossible to select which PIC you want! I'm just not sure the SX is the way for me to keep going, even though they're the only product I know of (in it's class) that runs 100 Mhz and gets 100 MIPS! AVRs don't do that, do they? -- Mitch On Wed, 6 Feb 2002, James Newton.
