You can probably grow your capability pretty painlessly as your needs and budget grow. If you purchase a used scope (analog or digital) at a fair price and take care of it you'll get a lot of your money back when you trade up some day. My first scope at home was a 20MHz Dual Trace Hitachi. I bought it at a Hamfest for $90USD, used it for about 5 years and sold it for $75USD.
