I know that XP programs written in VB6 using MSComm work just fine. As for VB5, I have not heard of any problems, but be sure that you have at least SP2 installed before using MSComm. Early implementations were quite buggy. (as far as I remember, MSComm was always buggy in VB5, regardles of OS) Does the program in question run on other OS's? A good MSComm troubleshooting reference is available at http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=kb;en-us;Q192012 (MS Knowledge base) Jen > -----Original Message----- > From: pic microcontroller discussion list > [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]On Behalf Of Gary Baker > Sent: Monday, January 28, 2002 2:01 PM > To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU > Subject: [OT]: Windows XP, do programs written in Visual Basic 5 work > ok? > > > Hi, > Windows XP, do programs written in Visual Basic 5 work ok? > > > > With the new operating system, I seem to remember something > about compatibility problems, or was it just that you cannot > write to serial ports etc anymore? > > As an example, I assume a 'Hello World' text program will > work OK, but a program that operates using RS232 will not? > > Thanks Gary > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics > (like ads or off topics) for you.
