I share your pain of frustration, Rad. Any Cad package has the same steep learning curve. Remame your personal library something like "!mystuff.lbr" so that the sort order will place it first in the list. Save it into the Eagle library directory and it should show up. Try not to modify the regular Eagle libraries much, because these will be overwritten next time Eagle comes out with a major revision and you could lose your work this way. Yes, you've figured out that the steps to making a part are: 1. Make (or steal) a schematic symbol 2. Make (or steal) a package 3. Create a device, and put in your symbol then your package 4. Connect them together 5. Optionally, cuss, and go back to Step 1, and re-name the pads in your symbol and package so you can remember which ones are which when connecting 6. Optionally, cuss, and go back to step 1 re-drawing the package and symbol so they have the same number of pins. 7. Optionally, cuss a blue streak, and go back to step 1 adding a full set of optional surface mount and thru-hole package variants. Most of my cussing comes from not remembering all the steps in the right order or fouling one up, so-called "mouse driver" errors, me being the mouse driver. Eagle always works the same predictable way, and once you get used to it it's pretty smooth. You can often copy a package and a symbol from another library. Copying is easy but not windows-standard keystrokes. Look it up in the PIClist archhives or on the EAGLE help newsgroup when you need to do it. --Lawrence > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "rad0" > To: "Lawrence Lile" ; > Sent: Monday, January 28, 2002 11:22 AM > Subject: Re: Re: [ot]: eagle library part needed for mc1489 > > > > expectations....thanks > > > > I'm still banging my head against my library.... > > > > So far, I have only two things in it, and it doesn't show up in the > > library list, when you use the 'add' symbol/menu, it does show up > > from the control panel though... > > > > I think it is because I may not have yet made a device, I have the symbol > > and > > package, but haven't made the device yet > > > > this must be it... > > > -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
