I connected the 10k pot directly into the a/d, and put vref to 5.0v.  This worked fine for me.  Maybe its your program.

Hold that thought..... It now appears my interpolation is no longer working.
Very strange. It was working yesterday. Stranger and stranger!!
I'm wary of page code jumps but in the MChip app note on tables and call
jumps it says for code less than 2K you don't need to worry about call page
jumps. Is that for any code lying under the 2K cut-off or if the whole
program fits under 2K. I ask because my program has just gone into the 2K
region though all the interpolation parts and calls for the interpolation
procedure are < 2K....
