I will be making an adapter that will connect between the PicStart Plus Development Programmer and my development board I am currently designing. I am using a 4-Pin 20 MHz chip oscillator (SG-615P) with an Enable pin which I can tie to gnd to disable the CLK. I currently don't use the LVP mode. Doesn't Microchip have an App note for ICSP? I could not find anything on their site. You should first decide if you want to use LVP (low voltage programming). I built a board where a 16F628 programs a 16f876. With LVP I don't have to generate 13v.
