I knew someone who built one of those ploystyrene bead window insulation systems. They have a shop vac in the basement wired to suck the beads out of the window, then switched a valve to blow them back in again. Worked pretty well until static charge built up all over the beads, and they all stuck to the window. They never did get it to work very well after that. I have always wondered if there was another material that would suffice for this system, that would not build up static and cling to everything. This would be a really cool way to automate a solar heating system with a lot of extra efficiency.
