I have a www.melabs.com EPIC Pocket programmer and I want to program 16C771 20 pin dip PICs. To do this I will have to update my software from v2.11 :-( AND buy a 8/18/20 ZIF connector, total $45 before I pay shipping or tax! Consequently, I'm looking for a new programmer that will ideally program the 16C771SP and the 16F873SP. I'm considering the 'PICALL PIC Programmer' which I can get from http://www.electronics123.com/amazon/default.htm for $70 ish. Or how about Tony Nixon's Pocket Programmer? Anyone used this? Any good? Will it program the 16C771SP 20 pin skinny dip? Any comments on this purchase? I'm happy to solder etc but I won't walk a mile to save a penny.
