This list will likely be the most useful for the upcoming dsPIC. Like most chip companies, Microchip will introduce a product, and it will be 'available' when they say it is available - but it won't be 'widely available' (ie, easily obtainable for low volume customers) until about 2-3 months after it is 'available'. They provide as much (and sometimes more) support than other companies selling chips. Which means they'll help you if you can show their product is defective. You'll get most of your help here. I've never had a PIC go bad. I regularily handle them (when not working on a customer's project) without any anti-static protection. But they are cmos, and nothing is "ESD, EMI, ...
