Well, expensive, but cheaper than a fyll X/Y matrix anyway.

I would guess that color combinations (i.e. R+G to make yellow) would look=
 very flickery at low rpm:  R, G, dark, R, G, Dark, etc...)

Just delay the data between the strings of the same color X rotation steps=
 and there is very little extra processig power needed.
