Hi, If it's the same kind of electronic halogen lighting transformer as sold overhere, you can not load these with anything other than a pure resistive bulb. This is because the bulb is actually part of the resonant and/or self oscillating mechanism of the power supply. Loading it with something capacitive like a bridgerectifier-capacitor combination may result in spurious power supply behaviour. Actually, I've seen some blew up when experimenting with different load types. The dedicated designs of these electronic transformers are mostly just sufficient enough to power a light bulb and to meet certain standards with regard to safety and EMC. Do not expect any good power supply performance from these.
