I get that sometimes with the video capture card - makes it very
difficult to get a clean start and finish when you have to predict
when the capturing will kick in, grrrrrr

My problem turned out to be at buss level. Not covered in the manual
of course - one of those things you have to go pecking around for
until you find it. Hate that

Absolutely thrilled with Goldwave (shareware from www.goldwave.com)
sound editor. As soon as I can I'll register it (although it's functional
now with little restriction). For less than a meg big it's a great utility.
Transferred a fair few tracks from vinyl to CD already. Quality depends
on the vinyl, but so far more than happy. Happier than I would be with
cassette tape wrapping around capstans. I can also do a lot of sampling
and sound effects for my other audio work with the program too
