Thank you Andrew. I have been reading and just finished the UL 1998. Now I have an idea about what UL requires. But you mentioned on your email, "It's worth noting that some UL standards require the microcontroller software to do things that simply can't be done with most PICs (e.g., perform a checksum calculation on the program ROM)." I didn't see that on the standard. I wonder if there are additional (or supplemental) standards out there that I will have to comply with. Or, is there something important yet not printed on the standard? Also, do you know of a documented real life example of compliance of the UL 1998 published on the internet? I wuold like to see what the documentation should be like. Thank you in advance.
