You never know. If there's a PIC you would really like to use
have a frank discussion with your distributor about the price
target. They may have more wiggle room at 10K pieces and can
sometimes get special pricing in order to get a design win. Also,
don't discuss just the PIC with them. Give them a shot a quoting
the whole bill of materials. They may be able to give you a
really good deal on other parts in order to get the processor
into your design.
