Yes, flux helps solder move towards pins if the solder is not too much. Only very thin layer of solder is needed before you put your chip onto the pcb. In case you have too much solder that bridged pins you can use "solder wik" (I can not remember exact name) to remove it. That was what we did there. We never tried using sucker.
