If you don't connect a keyboard or mouse, the system will automatically use the serial port as its console.  Just hook a terminal or a PC serial port to the serial connector and you're set.

I had an old Sparcstation 1 until recently.  Makes a good door stop, it's quite heavy.  This one is a Sparc 20...  I'm thinking about now that there's a reason I like Linux so much.
