Seeking Mouse info

There seems to be a difference between PS2 and serial mouse specs beyond the
connector. Those labeled "combo" will function in both circuits with the
appropriate passive adapter.

My problem: In implementing a KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse) type switch I need
to acquire/fabricate an adapter to allow the use of a PS2 pointing device
that is not a "combo" type with a motherboard that supports only the serial
type. Further, the switch is also built to PS2 Specs.

Preferred solution: An inexpensive adapter that converts between the two
specs.
Next best solution: The specs so I can fabricate an adapter.

Worst case: I have to measure & try...
