The PIC for the USB to serial interface sounds like a good idea. But what would he use to program the PIC to do the interfacing :-) Martin -----Original Message----- From: pic microcontroller discussion list [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]On Behalf Of Byron A Jeff Sent: 10 December 2001 18:48 To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Subject: Re: [OT]: USB to serial On Mon, Dec 10, 2001 at 06:29:56PM +0000, ashly Dearden wrote: > Nice new laptop with NO 9 pin D serial connection, just USB. Anyone have an > idea how I can talk to the PicStart now???? Well the obvious answer is to get a USB/serial converter. Another interesting idea is to build an interface using a 16C745 PIC with a builtin USB interface. Since it has both a USB and a builtin USART, a translator between the two should be a fairly easy task. BAJ -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
