Yes, this directive is hard to find but it is there: MPASM help -> Macro Language -> Text Substitution. I've actually been using the #v directive for years now when defining text strings. For example: Text#v(number) data string where the label becomes Text1 or whatever. Just by increasing number you can create many uniquely labelled strings. But i never thought of using #v to generate messages - Dwayne Reid was cluey enough to bring that my attention. #v is such a useful directive and it's obscurity shows just how much microchip have rushed the entire IDE and docs.
