I have to agree with most of the suggestions and comments so far. I started just as you describe with my business at http://www.elproducts.com It's been a lot more work than I ever imagined but I'm doing what I love so it doesn't really seem like work. The biggest mistake I made and many others make is trying to cover too many bases at once. Set your direction and follow that path (also known as a business plan). Don't stray. My site is dedicated to PICs and Programming them in Basic. It's worked well for me and brings in extra cash so I can afford to develop other products or evaluate other products (play with) to sell at my site. It's also helped me improve my design skills. It's certainly not making me rich and I still have a day job so sometimes I'm putting in a lot of hours. Other times I get a break. If your thinking that you can quit your day job, then you have a tough road ahead. I'm not saying it can't be done but the costs of running your own business require you to earn about twice what an employer will pay you to maintain your lifestyle. --- Traveler Hauptman wrote: > Hi all, > > I'm considering starting a business selling some > electronics/microcontroller > modules I'm developing as a side venture.
