For the 5v 30mA supply you only need a tiny cheap inductor, and even 24v 300mA you should get away with a small pre-wound inductor like they use in speaker crossovers. 6x8mm and 10x14mm are commonly available in that inductance range. I tested my circuit to 300mA with no drama but watch the volt ratings of your Q1 transistor.
