Actually I have been to Taiwan. And for cities like Taipei, these=
 things might make some sense. But I agree with Dale B., for=
 anywhere I've seen on the North American continent they'd be=
 pretty impractical.

Not that I don't think it's a cool device -- I do -- I just see=
 it as not very practical for the majority of people worldwide.
