Hi Gianluca, This is an interesting problem and one that has been approached repeatedly, but I don't think it has ever been solved. When you say "all" PICmicro MCUs, do you mean the low end (PIC16C5x) as well as the PIC17Cxxx parts along with the mid-range and PIC18Cxxx which use Microchip's ICSP? If you do, then you will find that you have a significant challenge on your hands as the low-end and PIC17Cxxx both require multiple bit parallel programming. It isn't impossible, you could use multiple analog multiplexors, like the Microchip PICSTART Plus does to access each of the different possible pins. If you are looking at ICSP chips (the two wire programming protocol), then your task is a lot easier, but you will again find that there is no way to simply do this as the different devices use different pins for the different functions. When I designed the El Cheapo PCB, I put in three sockets for the different ICSP part packages, one for 8/14 pin devices, one for 18 pin devices and one for 28/40 pin devices. If you do come up with something that will work for either ALL PICmicro MCUs or just the ICSP, please publish it, as I'm sure everyone on the list would be interested in seeing what you come up with. myke ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gianluca Mattioli" To: Sent: Friday, November 23, 2001 4:09 PM Subject: [Pic] 40 Pin Textool Programmer > I need an advice. > I'm trying to make a personal programmer for Pic series microcontroller. > > My problem is that I nees to use only one 40 pin Ziff adapter for all Pic > MCus and I need to route the programmation signals to the right pin for > every device. > > I ask you if you know solution just implemented from other people, for > solving this, without using switches or other things. > > Can you help me? > > Thank you > Gianluca Mattioli, Verona, italy > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: > [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
