Hi, close but no cigar! The tassie devil is very much alive and well in the bush here in tassie- they are the local "clean-up" squad for any dead or injured animals. They are only about a foot to 18 inches long, but have a fearsome set of jaws, fortunately they are scavengers not predators. The extinct animal was the thylacine or tasmanian tiger.
