With a 300 watt load I think a heatsink will be necessary. A triac will
dissipate typically a watt per amp of load, and for a 300 watt load on 110
volts, there will be 3 to 3.5 amps, so 3 to 3.5 watts heat dissipation. A
bit too much for a tab device without a heatsink methinks.
