Though many a printer tech have complained about people using
aftermarket inks in Epson printers, clogging print heads as a result.

I am using my second HP inkjet now (first was the good old 500) but I
have
no complaints about the price of ink: a liter of refill ink I bought
years
ago for maybe $25 (plus maybe 1 cartridge each year) still serves me
well.
And the refill ink is sufficently UV dark to be used for coarse PCB
work.
