Hi Peter TTL means Transistor Transistor Logic and is IC operating on a 5V supply only ! CMOS is Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor and can operate from some what ?3V? to over 12V normally ... they can also replace TTL as their name Complementary suggests :) The TTL IC's can always be distinguisted by their number .. for instance 74LS00 , 74HC01 .. everytime you see 74 youre dealing with a TTL logic IC and CMOS is 40xxx forinstance 4000, 4001, 4049 Hope it helped else dont hesitate to write back ... sorry for my bad english but i hope that you will manage to understand some phrases of it :) Best Regards Lasse Madsen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Foster" To: Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2001 12:53 AM Subject: [EE]:TTL & CMOS? > As relatively new to electronics, I keep seeing these terms: TTL & CMOS - > what do they mean??? > > Thanks > > Peter > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList > mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu > > > > -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
