If anyone on the list has tried out a TIVO box, can you tell me whether any of it's features work at all WITHOUT a subscription? I've checked out many of the TIVO hack sites but they are mostly interested in how to add a second harddrive to record even more TV as opposed to not ever hooking it up to the phone line to let the TIVO people know what you are watching. I am interested in using one for recording video from a camera instead of using a VCR. At $200, it looks hard to beat in terms of trying to kluge up my own system. Thanks! Tom M. ps. for anyone who is curious, a TIVO box is a 'pc' with embedded LINUX, a hard drive, a modem, and a video encoder/decoder made to record TV when you are not around plus a few other VCR-like features. -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
