I use a tube from the hardware store. You apply it like caulk, then smoth it out if needed using a wet finger, or slap some wax paper over it until it dries. If that's too thick, you could always try electrical tape, or get some TV corona dope -- I seem to recall that's pretty much liquid polystyrene you can brush on and let harden.
